C-Class facelifts are soon to be revealed

07 Mar 2018

The fourth generation C-Class has been on the market since 2014 and, with worldwide sales topping 415,000 in 2017 alone, it proudly sits as Mercedes-Benz’s top-selling model.

This success has amplified expectancy of two new model variants. Sharing the stage with the new A-Class, facelifted Saloon and Estate C-Class models will debut at the Geneva Motor Show which opens its doors on 8 March. Soon to follow in April will be the Coupé and Cabriolet versions. With all four due for arrival in the UK this summer.

Model Highlights:

  • Steering wheel generation from the S-Class
  • The latest driving assistance systems
  • Redesigned LED headlamps and tail lights

Subtle Exterior Tweaks.

Maintaining the C-Class’s expressive and dynamic character, the facelift comes with only subtle changes to its exterior styling.

Newly designed headlamps and tail lights are accentuated by clear-lined contours with new single swoop orientation. The UK C-Class comes with halogen headlamps incorporating LED daytime running lamps and LED high-performance headlamps as standard. For the first time in this model series, MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with ULTRA RANGE high beam are additionally available.

The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned across all lines. The rear bumper benefits from a new lower section but geometry, trim and tailpipe trim vary according to selected equipment and engine variant.

To complement the existing range, the colour spectrum of the C-Class has been broadened by the addition of Mojave Silver Metallic and Emerald Green Metallic.

Interior design: exquisite fine-tuning.

The updated C-Class takes its inspiration from the current S-Class. The sporty interior exudes class, featuring flowing forms in a new interpretation of modern luxury.

The KEYLESS-GO starting function is standard but the start/stop button and vehicle key both feature a new design. A new range of seats is also available, including those offering climate (and fragrance) control and those providing a massage function.

The optional COMAND system has been updated in line with the current facelifted S-Class. As has the C-Class’s new touch-sensitive steering wheel. It allows the driver to control the functions of the instrument cluster and the entire infotainment system without taking their hands off the steering wheel. This is also the case for activating cruise control following the removal of the conventional control lever.

A new touchpad controller located on the centre console provides alternative access to your infotainment systems. This is supported by widespread LINGUATRONIC voice control capabilities which can enable vehicle functions such as the heated seats.

The C-Class comes as standard with the Audio 20 multimedia system featuring two USB ports, an SD card reader, Bluetooth connection and media interface.

Intelligent Drive: state-of-the-art active safety.

The new C-Class features the latest driving assistance systems, offering the driver cooperative support and providing a higher standard of active safety than its predecessor.

It is able to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations. To do this it keeps a close eye on the traffic situation: improved camera and radar systems allow it to see up to 500 metres ahead. The vehicle’s surroundings are scanned by radar across a distance of up to 250 metres to the front, 40 metres to the sides and 80 metres to the rear, while with the camera a range of up to 500 metres is possible to the front, including 90 metres in 3D. The C-Class also uses map and navigation data for assistance functions.

The new C-Class comes with extended Active Brake Assist as standard. Sensors allow the vehicle to provide an audio warning to drivers when it senses a collision could be imminent and provides autonomous braking pressure if no driver reaction occurs. It will also perform an emergency stop when faced with stationary objects ahead.
